S/Y Erato

These are all pictures taken during recent sailing trips. There are many more in the picture galleries.

This yacht is designed and built for fast, safe, dry sailing with no compromise in creature comforts.

S/Y Erato is a 42 ft luxury sailing yacht designed by Michel Joubert and Bernard Nivelt and built by Gibert Marine at Marans in France. Her design and construction ensure a fast, safe, dry journey.
Being privately owned, she is equipped and maintained at a higher standard than the yachts normally offered by charter companies.

Her behaviour is excellent under both sail and motor. Steering is effortless in all conditions. Under sail, on a reach, it is enough to trim the sails and let her steer herself into the wind.

The modern in-mast furling mainsail and the classic roller reefing genoa make sail handling safe and easy. The 94 sq.m. sloop rig will power her even in light winds.

Deck equipment includes eight self tailing winches well matched to the tasks they have been provided for. The leather covered steering wheel feels good and the Bimini keeps out the sun and the rain.

The cockpit table folds away easily and neatly during sailing.

Below deck, you are surrounded by the warm boaty feeling of teak and there is a surprising amount of living space. The saloon is spacious with large dining table, generous seating, plenty of light, and good ventilation. In the warmer weather, the wind scoop freshens the air.

Four double cabins and two shower/heads make an extended trip for up to 8-9 people comfortable.

One cabin has bunk beds. Handy for people willing to share a cabin without being too intimate and a favourite with children.

Hot and cold water is available in the heads and the galley. It is provided by the automatic electric fresh water pump.

The name Erato is the name of one of the nine muses of antiquity. The muses inspired people for the 'higher' things like music, oratory, poetry. Erato the "Lovely" is the muse of love poetry and mimicry, and is seen with a lyre and sometimes wears a crown of roses.
